The striker-fired Glock G34 9×19 mm semi-automatic embodies all that people love about Glocks in a long-slide, long-sight radius and 5.31” length barrel competition pistol that’s even more accurate than its less imposing siblings. Glock developed the G34 around double-stack magazines. Standard capacity is 17+1 thanks to its 17-round double-stack mag, but it can also handle 19, 24, 31 and the rather staggering 33-round magazines. All have counting holes.

This lengthy semi-auto has ambidextrous slide stop levers and a single-slot Picatinny rail under the muzzle. It also has squared magazine releases instead of the circular ones common to many other guns.

The G34 uses a Safe Action trigger system with 6.3 pounds of factory-set trigger pull. The Safe Action system utilizes a trigger safety that blocks the trigger from moving back until you pull the trigger. There is also a firing pin bar safety, drop safety and loaded chamber indicator. The trigger distance from the back of the grip to the trigger face is 2.83”.

The trigger guard has a vertical front face that curves forward a tad at the bottom. Within the guard perimeter is plenty of room for a gloved finger.

The (fourth generation series) Gen4 G34 weighs 23.1 ounces without a magazine and 25.93 ounces when one includes an empty magazine inside the gun. Load up the standard 17-round mag and weight increases to 33.33 ounces, or just over two pounds.

The long slide provides plenty of real estate to spread out the sights. The slide is 8.15” long and 1.0” wide. The distance between Glock Night Sights (GNS) sights is 7.48”. Between steel sights, it’s 7.52” and between the polymer sights, it’s 7.56”.

The slide’s top deck is mostly flat, but it also has a big weight saving cutout above the front that makes for a good-looking piece of work. The G34’s overall length is correspondingly long at 8.82”. Its overall width is 1.30” while height with the 17-round magazine is 5.47”.

The slide has vertical grip serrations in back but not in front. The pistol grip has a three finger recesses, horizontal studded serrations, a short toe in front and a gentle palm swell in back. The sides are textured.

The Gen5 series G34 is almost identical but has minor improvements/changes. The pistol grip is straight, deliberately lacking any finger grooves. Both the front and back of the slide feature grip serrations. Perhaps most importantly, it has the Glock Marksman Barrel (GMB). The barrel has extra internal grooving, which improves accuracy compared to the Gen4 barrels. The gun has a stronger nDLC (diamond-like coating) for improved ruggedness and durability.

Both G34 Gen4 and G34 Gen5 are available with Glock’s MOS (Modular Optic System). It comes with a cover plate. You can it with an MOS adapter plate that works with specific optical sights including EOTech, Docter, Insight, Meopta, Trijicon, C-MORE and Leupold.
